Orthotics/ Prosthetics Intern

DESCRIPTION

The undergraduate summer intern will assist the prosthetic/orthotic lab in day to day operations by working with certified practitioners and office staff. They will assist specifically in ordering devices, working on minor labor of devices when supervised by a qualified practitioner or office staff member. Minimal patient contact under the direct supervision of certified practitioners will be likely. There will also be opportunities in working with ongoing research projects.

To be exposed to a position in the healthcare field, working with patients under the direct supervision of certified and licensed prosthetists and orthotists. To gain a basic understanding of biomechanics.

Education Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with an interest in pursuing a career in the medical field

Knowledge Demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills. Computer experience in Windows environment is required. Computer literacy with Word, Excel and internet required. 
Interpersonal Must possess strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently as well as under supervision.
